Air Con Services, Repairs & Maintenance in Woking
We tend to take car air conditioning for granted, until it stops working properly. Suddenly, the windows steam up every morning, or a stale smell creeps through the vents, or worse still the system just blows out warm air when you need it most.
When that happens, ignoring the issue can make things worse. That’s why we offer complete car air conditioning services, including everything from a simple AC regas right through to full vehicle AC repairs. With over 40 years of experience behind us, we know how to keep your system running smoothly so your car feels fresh, comfortable and safe all year round.
WHY REGULAR AIR CON MAINTENANCE MATTERS
Like many parts of your car, your air con gradually loses efficiency over time. On average, systems can lose around 10% of their refrigerant gas each year. And if left too long, this loss puts extra strain on the system which can shorten its lifespan and lead to costly repairs. Additionally, your air conditioning does a lot more than keep you cool on hot days, and a healthy system will:
- – Clear fogged up windows quickly in damp or cold weather
- – Keeps the air inside your car clean and fresh
- – Prevents bacteria and mould from building up in the vents
- – Protects the compressor and other components by circulating lubricant with the refrigerant
AIR CON REGAS & RECHARGE
Bring back the full potential of your car’s air conditioning system by recharging it to ensure optimal performance and keep your car feeling fresh. So if your air con isn’t blowing as cold as it used to, chances are it needs a regas (or recharge). This process involves removing the old refrigerant and replacing it with fresh gas and lubricant.
We use the latest equipment to carry out regassing accurately and efficiently. The right type of gas is always used for your vehicle, and we run system checks throughout the process to make sure there aren’t any leaks or hidden issues.
AIR CON SYSTEM CHECKS
Sometimes a drop in performance isn’t just about the gas level. That’s where an AC system check comes in handy, and we’ll run through a series of tests to measure pressure, airflow, and temperature, and inspect for leaks or blockages. If something isn’t quite right, we’ll explain what we’ve found in plain English and give you clear options before going ahead with any repairs.
AIR CON LEAK REPAIR
A common cause of air con problems is a leak in the system, because even a tiny leak can cause the gas to escape and stop the system from working properly. We use specialist tools to detect leaks quickly and accurately and once we’ve pinpointed the issue, we’ll repair it, replace the refrigerant and retest the system to make sure it’s sealed and running as it should.
ANTI-BACTERIAL CLEANING & FRESH AIR
If you’ve noticed a musty smell coming from the vents, that’s often a sign of bacteria or mould in the system. As part of our air con servicing, we can carry out a thorough antibacterial clean. This helps to eliminate odours, improve airflow, and make the air inside your car much healthier to breathe. We also recommend doing this every 2–3 years, alongside your regas, to keep your system fresh and performing at its best.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is it safe to drive with a faulty air conditioning system?
Technically yes, your car will still drive but it’s obviously not ideal. Without a working system you can struggle to demist your windscreen in winter, you’ll be circulating stale air and the compressor could get damaged if it’s left too long. It’s always best to get it checked sooner rather than later.
Does using air conditioning affect fuel consumption?
Running your air con does put a little extra load on the engine, so you might notice a slight dip in fuel economy. However, if your system is fully charged and working efficiently, that impact is minimal. In fact, driving with the windows down at speed can use more fuel than simply running the AC.
Why does my air con smell bad when I turn it on?
That musty or damp smell is usually down to bacteria or mould building up in the vents and filters. It’s very common if the system hasn’t been used for a while. We can carry out an anti-bacterial treatment during your service to clear it out and leave the air fresh again.
How long will an air con service or regas take?
On average a straightforward regas takes about 45 minutes to an hour. If there’s a leak or a repair needed, it can take longer but we’ll always give you an idea of timings before we start.
What happens if I never service my air conditioning?
Over time, the system loses gas, bacteria builds up and components like the compressor have to work harder. Eventually, it may fail completely which is a far more expensive job than a simple regas or clean. Regular servicing is a small investment that protects you from those bigger repair bills.
Can all cars have their AC regassed?
Yes, whether your car uses the older R134A refrigerant or the newer R1234YF, we’ve got the right equipment and training to handle it. We’ll check which gas your vehicle requires and recharge it to the correct level every time.
Do you check for leaks before refilling my system?
Before we put new gas in, we run a vacuum test to make sure the system is sealed. If there’s a leak, we’ll identify it and talk you through the repair before re-gassing, so you don’t waste money on gas that escapes again.
